Grant News

October 2016: JHS has received a generous grant from the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation to help with the costs of additional signage for the John Thurman/Elm Hill historical marker on South Johnsburg Road in the hamlet of Johnsburg.

Most town residents have seen the handsome blue and yellow cast iron marker which notes the location of John Thurman's industrial complex known as Elm Hill, established in the late 18th century. The additional signage will inform the public about Thurman's vast land holdings in the Adirondacks, his community of farmers and laborers, his historic calico printing mill, and his impact on the history of the Town of Johnsburg.

This grant is underwritten by the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life for year-round residents of the Adirondack Park, www.pearsallfoundation.org.

August 2016: JHS is fortunate to receive a charitable grant from the Adirondack Foundation for a high-volume printer capable of handling large 11x17 paper. This newsletter is one example of the capability of the new equipment. Adirondack Foundation's mission is to strengthen community through philanthropy, and JHS has benefited directly as a result. Thank you, Adirondack Foundation! www.adirondackfoundation.org
